You keep building things nobody asked for.

And every so often one of them changes how people think.

An agent that runs on its own. A story that branches. A feed that behaves oddly on purpose. This path pulls on construction, distribution, model behavior and interface all at once — and then on knowing what to do when it gets attention it did not plan for.

Which sounds like you?

A number about you, not about us

How far a strange thing actually travels

The whole bet of this path is that a small number of people do something, and those people bring more. Put your own numbers in.

Doing anything means replying, playing it, or passing it on. Every number here is yours to argue with — change any of them and the answer moves. Your inputs stay in this browser: this runs here and the answer is saved in it.

6 people do something

every time you ship

They bring enough others that your audience doubles about every 234 days23 things shipped.

A year at that pace turns 300 people into about 869.

Nothing here compounds without the first two numbers, and both of them are craft. Practical Propaganda is where you raise the share who act — an audience named, a success criterion written down, a style built to work on a reader who was not looking for you. Interactive Fiction and Intro to Agents are where you build the thing worth passing on.

Day one

What it takes to start

You start from

A laptop and an account with one AI model.

That is the entry requirement for the first class, and the first class is where the order begins. Nothing here assumes you have shipped anything before. It assumes you keep starting things.

By the fourth class you run a tool call round trip by hand, with a key of your own, and what you built stops needing you in the room to keep going.

What $250 a month opens

All 8 classes, on film and on your clock.

One path, everything on it: 126.6 hours of the 8 classes below already filmed, exercises, the written curriculum for every one, and the standups every week. At $500 you also have a seat in each of them every time it runs.

What this path keeps asking you to do

The signature move

Compose a strange system

A mechanism, a channel, someone you want to move. Pick one of each and read back what you would actually be building, which of these 8 classes builds it, and how much recorded material and practice is already sitting behind it. 125 combinations, every one of them written out.

An agentA branching storyA generated personaA pipelineA live game on a platform feedthrough a mailing listin a chat roomin a physical spaceon an unlinked page to make someone noticeto make someone doubtto make someone actto make someone laughto make someone stay

A bot that reads the same public data everybody scrolls past and posts the one number that moved. People notice the number; the bot stays boring on purpose.

An agent that takes a confident claim, goes and finds its primary source, and posts the two next to each other. It never argues. Adjacency does the work.

An agent that watches for one specific condition and, when it fires, hands one named person one thing to do — with the draft already written.

An agent with a job description so narrow it becomes funny: it answers exactly one kind of message, with total sincerity, forever.

An agent that remembers what you told it last week and opens with that. The loop is trivial; the memory is the entire reason anybody comes back.

A short piece where the first choice is the hook — a decision so specific that people screenshot the screen before they pick one.

A story that lets you make the reasonable choice, then shows you what the reasonable choice cost. No argument, just the next scene.

A story whose final passage is the real thing to do, reached by a route the reader picked, so it lands as their conclusion rather than your ask.

A branching bit where every path is wrong in a different way and the story commits, without blinking, to whichever wrongness you chose.

A story with concurrent strands that surface at the right moment, so a second play is a different shape rather than the same one with a skip button.

A voice with a strange, consistent register turning up where that register does not belong. The mismatch is the whole device.

Two personas working the same evidence from different starting values, so a reader watches the frame do the work instead of the facts.

A persona built for one named audience and one success criterion, who asks for exactly one thing and never widens the ask.

A persona with a small obsession, held rigorously. It is only funny while it never breaks, which means the system prompt has to hold under pressure.

A persona people talk back to: same voice every time, remembers the last exchange, and never quite resolves the thing it is waiting on.

A pipeline that turns something invisible and continuous — filings, prices, outages, rents — into one artifact a week that is worth looking at.

A pipeline that follows one claim across its retellings and publishes the drift, so the degradation itself is the finding.

A pipeline that ends in a draft rather than a report: written, addressed, and one click from sent by a person who has to approve it.

A pipeline that is deadpan by construction — a rigid schema applied with great seriousness to material that does not deserve it.

A pipeline that arrives on a rhythm people learn. A skipped week is felt, which is as close as a machine gets to being missed.

A game with a scoreboard readable from outside by people who are not playing. The score is the advertisement.

A game whose rules quietly encode the thing you want questioned. People argue with the rules, and find they are arguing with the thing.

A game where the winning move is a real action taken outside the game and reported back. The play is the proof.

A game with a mechanic so slight it should not work, run with a straight face, a real leaderboard and no wink anywhere.

A game with state that survives between sessions, so people come back to a world that moved while they were gone.

On a feed it earns every appearance cold. No thread, no context, one post that has to stand by itself.

In an inbox it gets one shot a week and a reply address. The reply address is the part people underestimate.

In a room the agent is a participant, and turn-taking stops being a detail and becomes the design problem.

In a physical space it needs a body — a screen, a printer, a speaker — and its failures are witnessed rather than logged.

With no inbound links it has no audience by default, which is exactly what you want while you find out what it does wrong.

On a feed the branches become separate posts, and the reader’s choice is which reply they open.

By email the story runs on delay: one passage per send, and the wait between passages becomes part of the writing.

In a room it is played out loud, the choices get argued before they are made, and the branch belongs to the group.

In a space it is read aloud and the branch is taken by vote, which makes every choice social instead of private.

An unlisted page is where a branching story is allowed to be strange before an audience decides what it is.

A feed is where a persona is most convincing and most brittle: judged on tone long before anybody reads the argument.

In an inbox a persona is a correspondent. People answer correspondents, so you need to have decided who reads the answers.

In a chat room a persona is tested constantly. Somebody tries to break it within the hour, and usually manages it.

In a space it has to be embodied by something — a voice, a printed letter, a screen in the corner — and the seams show.

A persona on an unlinked page is a rumor. It gets found by people who went looking, and they arrive already invested.

The feed becomes the schedule, and the pipeline’s rhythm has to survive a ranking system that punishes rhythm.

A list is the natural end of a pipeline — assembled, addressed, sent, with the machinery invisible to whoever opens it.

The room gets output the moment it exists, which changes what is worth publishing: smaller pieces, far more often.

A pipeline that ends in a room ends in a physical object — printed, posted, left somewhere. Its distribution is walking.

The page is the archive: everything the pipeline has ever produced, addressed to nobody in particular, waiting to be cited.

On a feed the game plays out in public and the audience is far larger than the players, which is usually the point.

Play by email is slow and strangely durable. A turn a day, and people who would never install anything keep playing for months.

A room is the cheapest venue a live game has: shared state, visible turns, everyone watching everyone else move.

In a space the game gets bodies, and bodies change tactics. People do things standing up that they would never do logged in.

On an unlinked page it spreads by being told about. A URL passed by hand is the whole distribution mechanism.

What it attracts. A feed puts your name on the thing. Practical Propaganda covers the reach; Field Opsec covers what reach costs you — what a stranger works out about where you are from what you post.

What it attracts. A mailing list is a pile of real people’s addresses that you are now responsible for. Field Opsec is where you decide what you are willing to hold.

What it attracts. A room is the easiest thing to join and the hardest thing to moderate. Field Opsec writes the threat model; The Dark Arts is what somebody tries on your bot.

What it attracts. A physical space means people know where you will be, at a known time, in advance. That is the threat model Field Opsec exists for.

What it attracts. Unlinked is not private. The Dark Arts (Red Team) is where you get an input past your own defenses before somebody less friendly does.

The order, and why

Eight classes, in this order

Each one stands on the one before it, and each leaves you able to do something you could not do the week before. Every count here is measured from the curriculum itself.

01

Critical Thinking and Creativity with AI

22.4h recorded

Leads on purpose. You leave with a reusable system prompt and the habit of attacking your own plan before anybody else does — the two pieces every later class here is composed from.

22.4h recorded guided app 7 tools included next session 11 Sep

Take this one first even if the propaganda or the agents are what you came for. A persona is a system prompt that holds under pressure; a channel design is a plan you already attacked. Both are taught here, and both are assumed everywhere after.

02

Practical Propaganda

0.0h recorded

Name an audience and its success criterion. Build the persona, the style and the channel that reaches people who were not looking for you, then measure whether the explanation changed what anyone did.

guided app 10 tools included next session 19 Sep
03

The Interactive Fiction Intensive

0.0h recorded

One day. You arrive having written no Ink and leave with a branching story on a public shelf, played by other people in the room — with state that neither explodes nor rails.

guided app 8 tools included
04

Intro to Agents

56.7h recorded

The loop, by hand first: a tool call round trip you can trace, then an agent that uses tools, then several of them taking turns in one conversation.

56.7h recorded guided app 3 tools included next session 15 Sep
05

Automate Your Email: No Code AI Automation

10.8h recorded

The unglamorous half of the craft. A no-code automation that calls a model, a transcript turned into a structured record, and a pipeline that runs when you are asleep.

10.8h recorded guided app 3 tools included next session 4 Sep
06

Context Engineering

35.7h recorded

How to make a model behave: inference hyperparameters, output constrained to a schema, a reasoning pattern generalized, and a recursive summarizer for documents that do not fit. The heaviest practice on the path lives here.

35.7h recorded guided app 8 tools included next session 16 Sep
07

The Dark Arts (Red Team)

1.0h recorded

The sharpest capability on the path: falsify an application’s defenses against a named attack class. The same adversarial move as everything else here, pointed at a system instead of at a person.

1.0h recorded
08

Field Opsec

0.0h recorded

Threat model your own situation, classify what playbook it calls for, drill it — and reconcile security with what people will actually do. This is the class that lifts the ceiling of the path.

guided app

The last two

Why a making path ends in security

Build something that provokes and it draws attention you did not plan for. That is the sign it worked, and it is the moment most people find out they have no idea what to do next. These two classes are why you will.

07 · The Dark Arts (Red Team)

Get an input through something built to reject it. That is the whole craft, and it is the same adversarial move as everything else on this path, aimed at a system instead of at a person. If you can do it to a feed, you can do it to your own agent — and you should be the one who does it first.

1 h recorded · 3 exercises

08 · Field Opsec

The capability this class ends on — reconcile security with what people will actually do — is the last thing the path teaches you. You write a threat model for your own life, learn to classify a situation into the playbook it calls for, and drill it until you would still run it under pressure. It is the last class because it is the one that keeps everything you built up to it going.

20 exercises · a threat model that is yours

What you are joining

The whole track, two ways

The eight classes above, in the order they are meant to be taken: 126.6 hours already on film, the written course for all of it, and the standups every week — for $250 a month. For $500, the room each time one runs as well.

The recordings on this path

126.6 hours of recorded sessions, playing the evening you join. This is one of the paths where the video genuinely is the product — the loop, then the control surface, in the order you need them.

The one-day intensives run the other way round: you arrive in the morning, and by the end of the day the thing exists and other people in the room have used it.

And the room they were filmed in

A recording answers the question the teacher expected. The room answers the one you turned up with — about the bot that started replying to itself, or the story that rails, or the thing that got attention on a Tuesday and you have no idea why. The live plan is a seat every time one of the eight runs; the recordings plan lets you watch each one back.

  • Automate Your Email: No Code AI Automation Fri 4 Sep
  • Critical Thinking and Creativity with AI Fri 11 Sep
  • Intro to Agents Tue 15 Sep

Every session is filmed as it runs, so the week you cannot make one, you take it back a few days later — and the 126.6 recorded hours you joined for keep getting longer while you are here.

The practice

Exercises across the path, with tools that walk you through each one:

  • a campaign builder that takes you from an audience and a success criterion to a channel plan you can run
  • a context workbench for taking a prompt apart, costing it in tokens, and rebuilding it until the model does the thing

It stays open for as long as you do.

One pass, the whole track. Start at the top of the eight and work down, or start wherever the thing you are building tonight sends you — the next room to walk into is Automate Your Email: No Code AI Automation on 4 Sep.

Join us $250 or one class, live, on its own

Or be in the room while it runs — $500 a month, every class on this path.

Three doors down the hall

Three people want a different door — and all three are open

You want to make art

If the output you care about is the work itself rather than the machine that produces it, there is a studio for that and it ends with a playable story on a public shelf. Take The AI Creative →

You want to verify, not provoke

If your instinct on reading a claim is to go and check it rather than to build something that pokes at it, you want the other side of the same skill — and it is the sharper one. Take The AI Citizen →

You want to build the tooling, not use it

This path assumes you want the strange thing to exist and will use whatever gets it there. If what you want is to write the framework underneath, there is a path that goes all the way down. Take The AI Builder →

Same school, same standups, same people in the hallway — and you can change tracks next month.

Build the strange one

8 classes, and a path that ends on something about people rather than about code. Press play on Critical Thinking and Creativity with AI tonight, and if you want the room too, Automate Your Email: No Code AI Automation is on 4 September.

$250 a month — the whole track filmed, with the exercises, the curriculum and the standups. $500 adds the room. Every class can also be taken on its own, at its own price.
